The Chambers Group for the Development of Greek Isles (C.G.D.G.I. or otherwise in Greek and henceforth named, E.O.A.E.N.) proceeding with the implementation of the decision taken in his 44th General Assembly, held in Kavala, on 01.12.2018, in cooperation with the Electric Boat Association of Greece (EBA Greece) will co-organize the 1st Panhellenic Islands School Competition “Let’s Go Port“, and the subject for this competition will be “Electric Boats & Ships”.

This is a competition aiming to spread the idea of ​​electrification on boats & ships, the development of technology through schools, to engage young people in new occupations, and on local island economies to create a different development profile, except from traditional products, services and tourism, such as the construction and production of technology and know-how for electric boats & ships, a sector where our country is lagging far behind the rest of Europe.

The competition is scheduled to take place during the next school year (2019-2020) in secondary educations schools of islands, provided of course the proposal is approved by the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs, which is being prepared and will soon be submitted.

Already for this purpose the President of C.G.D.G.I., Mr Sotiris Skiadaresis, the member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Athanasios Zlatoudis and the President of the Electric Boat Association of Greece, Mr. Andreas Apostolopoulos, met on 12/02/2019 with Mrs. Georgia Fermeli, a member of the Institute for Educational Policy of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs, and she has shown particular interest in the subject and the implementation of the proposal.

The whole process and the awarding of the best teams will be based on sponsors and volunteers, as well as on companies that will support the effort.

Already, ERT S.A. our national TV Station accepted the proposal of co-organizers of the competition and took over the media sponsorship.
