Phoenix Register of Shipping S.A actively supports the conduction of the 1st Greek Island School Competition – “Let’s Go Port”

Phoenix Register of Shipping S.A supports the initiative launched by the Chambers Group for the Development of Greek Isles (ΕΟΑΕΝ) and Electric Boat & Ship Association of Greece (EBA) for co-organizing the 1st Greek Islands School Competition, titled “Let’s Go Port” regarding electric ships & boats.

In the framework of their cooperation, the chairmen of EOAEN. Mr. Sotiris Skiadaresis, of EBA Mr. Andreas Apostolopoulos and of Phoenix Register of Shipping S.A, Mr. A. Arvanitakis, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a view to take joint actions for the implementation of the competition, as well as submitting the relevant proposal – for approval – to the Institute for Educational Policy of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs.

This is a competition aimed at spreading the idea of electro mobility of boats and ships, promoting technology through schools, encouraging young people to get involved with new professions, and also to provide local island economies the ability to create a different production profile, besides that of traditional products, services and tourism, such as the construction and production of technology and know-how for electric boats, a sector not yet developed in our country.

The support of Phoenix Register of Shipping S.A as an entity in the Greek island competition “Let’s Go Port” which focuses on electro mobility on ships, will be used as a medium to express the Society’s eco- friendly perception of the reduction of pollutants and sustainable development through renewable energy sources in the marine activities while providing the necessary know-how and expertise needed in order to support shipbuilding teams. It is a great pleasure and honor for our Organization to participate in this effort by the Chambers of Islands and to actively support young people who are interested in discovering new possibilities with existing technologies.
